"OPERATION HONEYPOT and The TOP SECRET to True Love," otherwise known as "OHTSTL" for short, is a screenplay written by former CIA operative Solomon Noblehart, otherwise known as Sol for short. It is the combined, producable version of the two screenplays found in the nonfiction book "REL TO ALL: Life Declassified, Hollywood Style," which was written by Sol's "partner in crime," Iona Freeman, with his assistance. The plot of "OHTSTL" recounts the events of the real OPERATION HONEYPOT, while the story follows Sol as he untangles webs of deceit. That web was not the by-product of his employer nor the secrets kept by family and friends. Instead that web was largely the product of centuries of ambiguity surrounding life, which Hollywood has been all too interested in exploiting, exspecially when it comes to the idea of love.
After a CIA operation backfires, Operative Solomon Noblehart must work with undercover cop, Iona Freeman, to rescue his wife, Melody, from the Russian FSB, all the while, questioning his understanding of love.
You think we're just going to give away the theme?? It's the "TOP SECRET to True Love" for a reason.
We will say the theme has a great deal to do with undermining long-standing assumptions regarding the concepts of love, marriage, human behavior, and the concept of self. The "REL TO ALL" website reveals some interesting facts about these topics, but here, we'll go ahead and paste the quote which will open the film:
"That which the mind long holds as absolute, the heart absolutely longs to hold. In the absence of TRUTH, both become man's worst enemy." - Sol Noblehart
"The TOP SECRET to True Love"
In setting out to encapsulate the enthralling messages and theme inherent in the actual OPERATION HONEYPOT story, Sol's story, he found it necessary that inseparable screenplays be written. The messages required that the theme be approached from opposite angles; therefore, “OPERATION HONEYPOT,” a drama, deals with truth, morality, and intelligence while “The TOP SECRET to True Love,” a comedy, deals with uncertainty, happiness, and emotions. As you can see from the graphic on the right, Sol's two screenplays run parallel to one another, following the exact same plot, only to converge in the third act at a moment that makes them virtually indistinguishable. But the outcome of that moment makes the screenplays distinct. However, Sol knew no producer would be willing to make two nearly identical films. Not willing to lose the insights gained from this dual approach, Sol determined a non-fiction "media guide," which contains and comments on the two screenplays, should be released. That's when he brought in Iona Freeman to assist him.
"REL TO ALL: LIFE DECLASSIFIED, HOLLYWOOD STYLE"
Why it is important we describe this screenplay's development and focus on the media guide, "REL TO ALL," is because the theme of this screenplay and the many messages supporting that theme might be lost on audiences otherwise. The screenplay is meant to direct attention to the book, not the other way around, as is often the case.
